Lift Safety at Hongkong Land: We Do More


We do not compromise on safety at Hongkong Land, and the many lifts and escalators at the heart of our extensive CENTRAL portfolio are an excellent case in point.

Elevators and escalators are mobility systems: without them, busy, high-rise buildings simply cannot function properly. Today’s ‘vertical transport’ technology includes multiple safety systems designed to meet the most demanding international standards.



At Hongkong Land, we insist that all of these installations are maintained by the manufacturer’s own qualified staff, and that they in turn commit to using only OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) spare parts and components. Best-in-class quality assurance systems are also a must.

Each Hongkong Land elevator and escalator is subject to comprehensive maintenance contracts, with all work carried out exclusively by OEM in-house staff. For example, many of our installations are supplied by Schindler, Europe’s largest and longest established lift and escalator specialist. All Schindler technicians must undergo a rigorous certification programme, reinforced by ongoing training courses, in order to service Schindler equipment. Their Hong Kong technicians have an average 18 years’ experience in the elevator and escalator industry.

And we at Hongkong Land go well beyond public statutory requirements too. We commission annual independent maintenance and safety audits from a globally renowned third party specialist in order to benchmark our maintenance and safety standards against international best practices.

Our goal is to make reliability and safety a positive experience for all of our tenants and visitors. We regard safety in all areas as non-negotiable. Indeed, this is a core value at Hongkong Land.
